Hi. Many would think this to be "mushy" but it expresses a reality that gives me satisfaction and strength. Thank you.
They're sincere about their music & the lyrics, which I wholly appreciate, seeing as how I'm equally sincere in my own musical endeavors. (I'm taking voice lessons to overcome my anxieties in this regard.) Still...it's retro enough to be rather...um...campy, don't you think? :)
yeah...It doesn"t resonate with me like the old-time gospel choruses and hymns.
I was giggling--He is like a Mountie; he always gets his man.
He loves me when I waste my time writing silly songs --yes, I'd say there's a bit of camp in that :-)
I hereby dub them the Brady Bunch of gospel music. So sincere, and yet... *dissolves into a fresh round of giggles*
I was gigling . I admire their effort to transmit the lyrics but it was a little funny.
Goes to show: God really does have a sense of humor.
OMG - How did I miss this post. That is HYSTERICAL. And I love that it takes EIGHT people to create the magic ;)
Hee! There are countless moments o' magic in this video. :)
I think the most interesting -- and amusing -- part of this for me was the odd vocal stylings of the lead singer. I am not even sure how to describe the way he delivers the lyrics, but the word "staccato" comes to mind. Thanks for posting this, Melodye! -- PL
Staccato is perfect. Herky-jerky works almost as well.
It's unsettling, at least for me. I don't THINK he's trying for parody. I suspect he's truly sincere. But to my mind, his over-the-top lyrics (and vocal stylings) negate that. Like an overexuberant suitor, amiright?

Having never had an overexuberant suitor (although it is possible I have BEEN one), I'm not sure I am qualified to answer that. But I think I grasp what you mean.
I wonder if any of the people in the video continued on in the world of music… what might they be doing today, and what do they now think of this effort of theirs? Are they proud? Chagrined? Bemused? -- PL
Melodye, there is a short but interesting entry on Wikipedia about this group and this video at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonseed(Now I need to track down the parody video "Vader is My Friend".) What do you think the name of the group means, anyway? -- PL | |
